Well, I think I wrote in the last post that I had loaded a new roll of film nice and fresh just as the new year started. I did mean that and I felt really motivated.....until I found out that the film had not been set properly and what I thought had photographed never existed. I don't know how many more times I will do this, if you take film photos I am sure you know how it feels when this happens. And you can not blame anyone or anything for this to happen except yourself.

I have been really busy with my client works which resulting in me not taking so much photos lately, even on Instagram... but here are some from September! Mostly taken around home including some very enjoyable reading matters: WILDER QUARTERLY, Mjolk and the latest issue of Smith Journal which just arrived yesterday.

I am finally getting comfy in my new home, and getting used to the new neighbourhood. It'll soon be one whole month since moving, it seems longer. I have found a favourite bakery where I can get the beautiful baguette, good new green grocer, flower shop, and many lovely shops for housewares and furniture all so close by. I will take photos of my new neighbourhood and share with you here soon! I'm ready for May now, summer will be here before I know it.

If you have been following my blog for over a year (or even from 2 years ago!?) you may remember my annual umeshu makings - the homemade plum wine. If not, this is what I do every year at the beginning of Summer, in early June when the Japanese fresh plums become available (they are only available at this time of year). The smell of the fresh green plums are so lovely, every year as I go through this habit of making my own umeshu I feel the summer coming so close. I'm looking forward to December when I can finally start drinking it, but to tell you the truth it's best start drinking after one year, if I can wait that long that is though!

We had a beautiful warm Sunday in Tokyo yesterday, the temperature went up to 18℃ and it didn't even drop much in the evening. (but we had snow today!) Had some sweet treats for late morning tea, my favourite caneles and mille feuille from a local patisserie, so delicious.....!

I hadn't had such relaxed Sunday for a long time, I sat down and had a second really good look at this lovely book (seen in the first 3 photos) my dear friend Ebony gave me for my birthday. (She gave me the stripe linen coated tray also from fog as well which I'm absolutely in love with and now can't live without!)
The rest of the photos were taken inspired by the beautiful book, I just couldn't help it! I realised that I hadn't shot with my digital camera for so long apart from photographing items for my shop! I think I will start using it more often, I love the film so much but sometimes it's nice to be able to see the photos right away and blog before everything is too old to post and never happen like always. haha

いつも、花のこと。 ("itsumo hana no koto" translates: Always, about flowers) is a beautiful book by a flower stylist Kazumi Hirai of ikanika which has been recently published. ikanika is my favourite cafe near Jiyugaoaka which Kazumi san and her husband own, and it is also used as an atelier where Kazumi san gives flower arrangement classes. The modest and delicate way she always present flowers at ikanika is so welcoming and really lovely. So when I asked Kazumi san if she could do my wedding flowers and when she happily accepted, I was really thrilled! She is such a lovely lady so sweet and gentle with some hidden powerful energy, just like her flowers.

The following are some left over flowers from the wedding I enjoyed at home afterward. The autumn hydrangeas are still looking pretty now and they make me smile :)

I'm loving my new cup from iihoshi yumiko porcelain, which I posted about before. The handle, the rim, the size, colour.... everything about it is so perfect! The one you see in the last photo is another cup of my favourites, a Mashiko-yaki cup I was given many years ago.

Also, I just got a new table :)

Yes that miranda july I saw at ii-ne-kore!

Lovely HelloSandwich Ebo-chan so kindly brought me a copy of Frankie current issue for me which I had cheekily requested. I picked up my first Frankie mag at Cairns airport last February when I was there on a 3-hour transit from Melbourne waiting for my next plane back to Tokyo. It surely saved me from dying of boredom! I was hoping to read more of it so I'm really happy to finally have a new copy of it in my hands :) (I just found out that I can buy it at Aoyama Book Centre... still it's nice to think it came directly to me carried by Ebony.)

Sweet Ebony even got me a copy of another great Australian magazine Dumbo feather, pass it on, I love how it's done, such inspiring designs and photographs it's really cool. Thank you Arigato so much Ebony-chan, you are the sweetest ;)

What are your favourite local magazines? I would love to find out about more cool mags that are published outside Japan!
