Some more shots from my last visit to Kamakura in April. Soon it will be the Ajisai (Hydrangea) season - another great time to visit Kamakura I must try to go back!

I can't believe it's already December, I've been complaining that it's so cold but actually it has been strangely warm for December days in Tokyo. Tokyo's symbol tree ginkgo are now all golden yellow and the leaves are starting to fall it's really beautiful. I took some photos of them today but it will be a while before I finish the roll of film so I picked these photos I took some winters back for the start of a new month. I hope you are all having a great start of December!
Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal, Yokohama.

P.S. Alice has just returned from Japan. Check out Quaint Living for gorgeous Japan photographs!

Obviously I haven't been taking photos so much lately, I finally got the two films developed which had been staying in my two cameras for a while. And these are from Yokohama when I went there with Stephanie on a very nice hot day in late September. I remember sitting in the sun at the top of osanbashi terminal drinking beer and chating with her like it was only a few weeks back. But the season has changed and now it's almost winter, time flies don't they.

Anyway, Yokohama Minato-mirai is a waterfront city that is only about half an hour on the express train (Toyoko Line) from Shibuya and is a very nice place to spend a day exploring around. The contrast between the futuristic skyscraper of Minato-mirai and the Yamashita/Chinatown area oposite from it is quite interesting. My favourite way to explore is to start from Minato-mirai Station and walk around towards Akarenga-soko (Red Brick Warehouse), to the osanbashi terminal, walk through the Yamashita Park and head to the Yokoham Chinatown which is said to be the biggest Chinatown in Asia and one of the biggest in the world. The night view of Yokohama minato-mirai is spectacular when it's all lit up, so stay till it gets dark!
Kamakura is known as a city of "ajisai" - hydrangeas and now is the best time for them. And yes that was the main purpose of my visit. You can find them just about evrywhere around the city but the Hase Area has many temples that are famous for hydrangeas, Hasedera Temple is one of the most famous and popular ajisai spot but it gets too busy and puts me off... But I can tell you that the Jojuin Temple (成就院) is a perfect spot! A lot less people, no entrance fee! (above bottom 4 photos are from Jojuin )

I don't think I've seen so many hydrangeas in one day!! and the variety is superb!!!

Today I took myself to Kamakura which is about an hour or so from Tokyo on the local trains and is a popular day-trip destination. My favourite old city.
These photos are from the Hase area, 3 stops from Kamakura station on the little ENO-DEN train. I love walking around the tiny streets and get lost. I walked and walked for so long am really exhausted but had a fun day.
