Rose Bakery opened their third shop in Tokyo at the much talked-about (over 300 people lined up to get here on their opening day apparently!) Dover Street Market Ginza last March, after many months I finally got the chance to get there last month. (and finally posting these here)

If you are a fashion guru or just love COMME des GARÇONS you will really enjoy this place - 6 floors full of latest clothing! It's more like a clothing museum really, it's amazing. Finishing your tour at the Rose Bakery on the top floor will give you a good relief, their carrot cake is always the best!

Also, right behind the DSMG you will find beer bar lupulin  where you can enjoy great Japanese craft beer (Microbrewery)! (See this post for more info about this beer bar)

NEW PAGE ON JOLLYGOO - TOKYO SHOPS & CAFES GUIDE

As I get many questions regarding shops & cafes recommendation for Tokyo, I made a page where all the shops, cafes and galleries are listed by area linked to the past posts. I hope it will be useful for Tokyo visitors!!

I photographed for a beer bar newly opened in Ginza last month for work. The place is called beer lupulin and they serve Japanese craft beer (microbrewery) which is booming in Japan right now. The space is so lovely and cozy, nice and casual being in the heart of Ginza which is known as an expensive area to do anything. Their food is great too, but the kakigoori (shaved ice) they serve is something very special to mention - they use ice made of natural water from Nikko (天然氷)and today there are only a handful of places where you can have this kind of shaved ice in Tokyo. The ice is so fine and fluffy, it is remarkably delicious especially with the handmade Japanese ume plum sauce...! If you are in Ginza do drop by for some great beer and kakigoori, it's on the third floor of a building right in front of Dover Street Market - the very cool and much talked-about new spot in Ginza (if you love COMME des GARÇONS you must go check, rose bakery also on the 7th floor!).

Rose Bakery is in Tokyo now!

Looking at Tommy's lovely photos of Rose Bakery in Paris and London, I always dreamed of going to this cafe if I ever go to Paris or London again. How could I ever imagine there to be one in Tokyo? But yes there is, in Marunouchi.

Last week, I had a chance to see Stephanie who was back in Tokyo briefly and we met in Ginza. I thought it would be too western and not so interesting to take someone who was in Tokyo for a short visit, but it was the coldest day (it snowed!) and we just wanted to grab some hot drinks so we went. The cafe is actually inside a Comme des Garçons shop, and was designed by Rei Kawakubo -the designer of Comme des Garçons who apparently is sister-in-lows with Rose of Rose Bakery. (that explains!) It was nice, the orange&lemon cake we shared was so delicious, it's just that I wish it was somewhere closer to the area I normally hung out so I can visit more often. I actually thought that it would suit a lot better in the area like Aoyama/Omotesando than Marunouchi which is very business-like though has become become one of the major shopping areas now, but too bad.

More than anything, I had a really wonderful catching up with Stephanie and gosh it was such an inspiring afternoon it's great to meet and talk to someone who is amazingly creative, professional and full of ideas like herself!

Happy weekend to you all! ;)

Ginza looks so pretty at night time with all the lights, but it looks extra pretty when it's raining at night.
