This will be the last post on Kyoto (finally). Random but nicely connected shots of lines and shapes of Kyoto. This city kept me so busy with my camera everywhere. It was wonderful. The best shopping I did in Kyoto this time was the copper tea caddy (chazutsu) from the oldest chazutsu maker in Japan called Kaikado. Beautiful chazutsu I had always wanted to own one day, was brought home from their head shop and I am so pleased! I will be enjoying the changes this lovely chazutsu will create after many months and years :)

WHAT MADE ME SMILE TODAY - Finding these four photographs connected with the theme "lines and boxes" from the roll of film I just had developed.

AND ALSO TODAY - New issues of come home! and ku:nel magazines were released! ku:nel vol.44 is a very special KYOTO ISSUE, I had to think that this issue was made for me because I am going there next week!!!!!

DO ALSO CHECK OUT - Hello Sandwich Tokyo Guide Zine!

ginza on the weekendThese are just some random shots I put together from recent rolls. That house in the third shot was so interesting when I rode past it on my bike I had to go back to get the shot. The most unique potted garden spotted in Tokyo! I wonder what people who live here are like. :)

Something from previous weeks I meant to mention and never got to:
●Received a lovely necklace I won (!) for a giveaway at gemmifer. The exact one that I got is not listed at the moment, but you can see her beautiful works here.
●Went to see Lucie Rie: A Retrospective at the National Art Centre Tokyo.
Another post from here made me smile :)
- Pine Bonsai

- Cherry in a vase.
桜
- Bamboo mini garden.
竹
枯山水 - Rock garden.

All taken at random places in Tokyo this year. The rock garden is from the Japanese Garden at Hotel New Otani, would be a good place to visit if you are only staying in Tokyo and want to see a nice garden - for free! ;)

sakura @ tamagawa

It was a perfect spring day in Tokyo today, sunny and warm finally! It was too good a day to work sitting in front of the computer so I decided to take an afternoon off and went out with my camera. I rode my bike to Den En Chofu which is next to Jiyugaoka, and then to Tamagawa-dai Park -one of hundreds of hanami spots in Tokyo, it's a beautiful big park located on the hill overlooking the Tama River.

When I was taking photos of sakura like a crazy girl, a gentleman talked to me and said "I used to have a camera that looked exactly like the one you have there many many years ago" pointing at my old canon. We chatted about sakura and camera briefly it made me smile even more :)

I love Japan more than ever, so I thought very strongly this afternoon. But to be honest, I must think and say that every Spring.

The last shot is a tribute to Ulrika. See also this wonderful new post here and enjoy!

yellow x green

February was definitely a month of yellow, but I thought it might be green for March seeing the photos from the couple of recent films developed. While we are waiting for the sakura (cherry blossoms) season, it snowed today. In Japan we say the spring comes after some repeats of "3 cold days after 4 warm days" (三寒四温), so we're now in the "3 cold days" period which means it should get warmer soon! Come spring, hurry!!!!!

P.S. Did you see this amazing photo combo???

relaxingThis must be one of my favourite angles. I took the first one last week in Roppongi Hills, and it reminded me of the second photo I took ages ago in TATE Modern, London (sorry i only had it in small size), and then the third photo popped in to my head it's from the National Art Centre Tokyo from my first visit there when it first opened some years ago. I like it when they all connect.

bear pond

Just some random shots from a day in Shimokitazawa with my friend a little while ago. Bear Pond is my favourite cafe for a quick coffee and daughnuts (bought from Hara Daughnuts right across from the cafe). Have a quick peek in Sally Scott (their shop in Shirogane is the best though), wonder around for a while and then eat and drink at a cozy French bistro "Trocadero", then finish with coffee and desert at ericafe. A nice way to spend a day :)

I carry my camera with me almost all the time when I go out, even when I just go quickly run to the post office. These are what I always see, I enjoy seeing them at different times of the day, how they look different at different times. The house in the top photo is my favourite house in my neighbourhood. They have a cherry tree in their balcony up on the first floor, I should take a photo when the blossoms are out to show you. I hope the house owner will not be mad at me.

Happy weekend!

P.S. Check out olivelse new web shop! Also pieni. These are my favourite lovely shops from France. And these mittens from mieke willems are SO CUTE!

after the mealThese are taken at my favourite cafes in Tokyo. I like spending my time alone in a cafe examining every little detail of the space and smile to myself (in my heart), but it's also lovely to share it with someone of course i need to have that as well :)
