the french cafe:)i heart coffeetempura soba10
Another post of some random shots from around my neighbourhood - taken within 2 kilometres from home in the past couple of weeks.
Nice little cafe that looks as if it just popped out from Paris, the cutest&tiniest gallery that's only open on the weekend, coffee at my favourite cafe in Jiyugaoka, delicious tempura soba for lunch, and D&DEPARTMENT on their 10th anniversary. All very random, all very good.

beauty + tranquility

First 3 photos are mine, the above images of the products are from yumiko iihoshi porcelain.

Yumiko Iihoshi's atelier is my recent favourite space in Tokyo. She has recently opened her atelier in Jiyugaoka as a gallery/shop 3 days a week. Simplicity, tranquility and beauty are all in there, a perfect box to contain her beautiful tableware. Yumiko-san is such a lovely person and that was no surprise to me at all looking at her delicate and sensuous pieces.

Another "well-hidden" lovely shop of my favourite from Jiyugaoka is the wonderful bonsai shop/atelier called "shinajina". They do a very modern cool bonsai art, both selling and giving lessons. I met up with lovely Bree from ii-ne-kore who was in Tokyo last week and took her there. (she's in Kyoto now enjoying sakura, she just emailed to me and said they had some snow! snowed while sakura in bloom -how amazing!) Both Bree and I went crazy gazing at these awesome bonsai pieces, and the great containers they had there. They were preparing for a class inside, for making sakura bonsai!! I must go and try one of their workshops soon I decided.

And this one is a sweet little zakka shop called "ochi-kochi" (THIS PLACE HAS MOVED FROM HERE AND THEN LATER CLOSED) that we also went. Every time I go visit this place I feel I want to buy the whole shop! They have beautiful Japanese tableware - ceramics, wooden and woven kitchenware and cute little kids clothing. The owner is a lovely lady too which makes me love this shop even more! She happily let me take a few shots of her shop so here they are to share with you :)

Then we went to cafe ikanika (which you would have known so well by now if you read my blog for a while!) and had a very nice lunch. And it was really fun to meet lovely Bree from Melbourne and I had a wonderful time though was for a quick one! Arigato Bree for coming to Jiyugaoka :)

I'm so in love with this cafe I posted earlier it's my favourite space in Tokyo right now. The bottom 2 shots are from when I went there with Hello Sando when I met up with her while she was in Tokyo, it was a great fun. I have a cute shot of lovely Ebony standing in front of the cafe, but I will keep it to my memory, ne :)

my favourite corner
my new favourite cafeThis new cafe recently opened near my apartment has instantly become my favourite! It's called "ikanika", and is run by a lady who has been working as a flower coordinator and her husband - a lovely couple (and a dog) in a renovated old simple Japanese house. It's actually located in a not-so-convenient place if you don't live close by, the closest station would be Jiyugaoka but it's going to be a good walking distance although walking through the lovely residential area around here is pretty nice. (My place is unfortunately on the other side not in this exclusive area.)

Beautiful food, good coffee, fantastic cheese cake, and a very warm and cozy interior, this is perfect for spending some quite time in the afternoon. I sure will be hunging out there a lot! It was also featured in this issue of Tennen Seikatsu with great pictures!

Another post on ikanika here.

I'm from tokyo but I'm not really good at all the hustle and bustle of the city. I'd say no thank you to the crowds in Shibuya or Shinjuku, or the famous (and crazy) packed trains during "rush hours" luckily because I work at home.
Nakameguro -2 stops from Shibuya and Jiyugaoka -7mins from Nakameguro, the area I live in are good quieter places for walks and shopping.
